Sycamore Class Return Back To School

Children in Sycamore class have had a fantastic first couple of weeks back in school. They have settled into the routines of year 6 extremely well and I am already impressed with the work that they have produced. In fact, all members of the class were awarded the Pride certificate the first week! Well done Year 6!

In English, we have been following the ‘Getting Along Together’ programme – looking at the key skills needed for effective teamwork. As part of this learning, the children will be working in pairs to collect points for the key skills shown below:

In maths we have been looking at place value including reading numbers to ten million, comparing and ordering numbers and rounding to any number. Year 6 have also been working hard on their presentation. I am sure you agree with the examples below, they are trying very hard and their presentation looks amazing!

Our main topic this term is World War II.

As a warm-up to our history learning, we looked at chronology and ordered significant British events.

We then began looking at which countries were involved in the war, which were part of the ‘Allies’ and which were part of the ‘Axis’ along with those which remained neutral. We also used our geography skills to locate these countries on a world map.

Well done Year 6. Keep up the excellent work!
