Home Learning with Hazel Class

Mrs Howarth-Smith and Mrs French continue to be delighted by the way Hazel Class are approaching their home learning!
Both children in school and those working from home are working really hard with us to make sure that they keep their learning going during lockdown – you are amazing! Keep it up!
Last week both Year 3 and Year 4 have been continuing to develop their multiplication skills in maths. They are becoming more fluent with their times tables and are using the facts they know to work out other facts. We have been really pleased with the quality of your work and the determination you are showing.
- In English the children have been continuing their work on comprehension skills in reading and have planned, drafted and improved a set of instructions on how to look after a young dragon. The children had some great ideas about what a dragon might need to eat to enable it to breathe fire!
- In Science we have been continuing our work on food groups and children have been learning about the nutritional labels and traffic light systems on food packaging. They have looked at the labels on foods in their cupboards and found some surprising hidden ingredients. They have also researched using the ‘Change for Life’ website.
- In History children have investigated where the Vikings travelled from and the routes they took when they travelled to Britain.
- In Art, children have further developed their pencil skills when drawing Viking warriors.
We have also worked on naming colours in French and on thinking about how we can be kind to ourselves in PSHE. Next week we are looking forward to developing this work in Children’s Mental Health Week!
Pride certificates this week were awarded to Darcie – for her very detailed artwork and Silver awards were given to Jasmin and Finlay for reaching 100 pride points – well done and keep up the hard work!
