Beech Class Update

Wow, last week was a really busy week! We did lots of fun activities and we all ended up covered in paint!

In Maths, we have been learning about our new topic of measurement. We started by measuring objects in cubes before we learnt how to measure in cm and m. In our lesson, we went outside to measure the length of different objects. The gate was the tallest and the trowel for our allotment was the smallest.

In English, we started our new book called ‘Insects’. We are going to use this book to write our own non-chronological report on butterflies. Before we do this, we spent a lesson looking at the features of a non-chronological report and we worked hard in pairs to label examples of them.

In DT we carried on with our beach buggies. We made our chassis out of cardboard last week. This week we painted them and used felt tips to add decoration and design. After, we decorated our wheels so we can attach them next week with our axles.

In Art, we have been busy making prints! We are creating a print of the ocean and we used a thin sponge to trace around a sea creature and cut it out. We painted this in various colours and printed it onto the watercolour backgrounds that we created last week.

We also had a very special delivery. Our letters arrived from our pen pals at Thrybergh Fullerton C of E Primary School. We originally wrote letters to them during the lockdown and this week we received a reply! We wrote back to them and we can’t wait for our next letters from them to arrive.

Finally, a big well done to Jack and Holly J who won the Pride award for their collaborative learning this week. They have worked incredibly hard to support each other and we are really proud of them. Well done to Tierney and Simon who got their 100 pride point award, and to Mason and Luke who got their 150 pride point award. Strive for Pride was achieved by Thomas, Nell, Alana, Holly A, Jack, Simon, Holly J, Violet, Florence, Joshua and Lucas!

What an amazing week! Keep it up Beech Class!
