Space Junk – Why Should We Care?

Last Friday, Holly class took part in a live video link on SPACE JUNK? WHY SHOULD WE CARE? as part of Celebrating World Space Week 2022 with our Primary School Talk.

STEM Ambassador Katherine Courtney, a former Chief Executive of the UK Space Agency, Chair of the Global Network on Sustainability in Space, and Founder of Primary Space talked about why she cares so much about space and why we should all care about protecting the space environment!

Katherine shared some interesting facts about satellites; how we depend on them in our everyday lives; and the important role they play in helping us understand and look after our planet’s health. She also talked about the types of jobs people have working to protect the unique space environment – from astrodynamicist to engineers, space lawyers, and communicators.
