Y6 Class Round Up
This week, in English we have been developing our poetry skills and are planning to write our own poem, in the style of In Flanders Fields. In maths, we have started the order of operations, which is what they are practicing for their homework this week. This is completing calculations in a specific order.
Our spelling rule for next week is ‘ire’, so please engage with your child practicing these 10 spellings at home, ready for our test on Thursday. In history, we have learnt about Kindertransport. Unfortunately, we have found out that Eden Camp is now closed for the winter – until April. I am in the process of finding a school workshop to supplement their learning on WW2.
Dates for your diary:
Wednesday 30th November – Parents Evening/Inset day for ALL children.
Tuesday 6th December – 1:30-3:00 PM – Workshop
This will be linked to VE Day, so the children will have an ‘end of the war themed’ party and they will also be showcasing their books and what they have been learning for you to have a look at. We hope to see as many of you here as possible.
Wednesday 14th December – 1:30-2:30 PM – KS2 Carol Concert
Questions to ask your child this week:
What new strategies have we used in class to develop our discussion skills this week? (Mention discussion cubes and the target summary game to prompt them.)
What is Kindertransport and how did it help Jewish children?
What is happening in our book ‘Goodnight Mr Tom’?
How did you classify liquorice allsorts and what are the 5 categories of plant?
