Welcome

Mrs Howarth-Smith

Mr Law
Meet your teachers
Mrs Howarth-Smith
Hello, my name is Mrs Howarth-Smith and I will be your teacher on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from September. I have been a teacher for many years and have spent much of that time at Aston Lodge Primary School and have had some time in another school in Wickersley Partnership Trust. I may even have taught some of your parents! I am really looking forward to teaching you. Y3 is a great year group as you are now moving into KS2 and are starting to develop more independence. We have lots of exciting work planned throughout the year and I look forward to seeing you all in September and helping you to grow and develop throughout the year.
Mr Law
My name is Mr Law, and I’m very excited to be your new teacher this year. I’ve been teaching for a number of years, and I always enjoy helping students learn, grow, and discover new things. We’ll be working together on the Year 3 curriculum, and I’m looking forward to all the fun and challenges ahead. I can’t wait to get to know each of you and see all the brilliant things we’ll achieve as a class. I’m absolutely sure we will have a great year!
Meet your Teaching Assistants

Mrs Wills
Hello my name is Mrs Wills and I have worked at Aston Lodge for 20 years. I am going to be your teaching assistant again and I am really looking forward to working with you all in September. I will be that familiar face that you all know, so you can come to me if you are unsure of anything.

Miss Woodger
Hello, my name is Miss Woodger and I’ll be your teaching assistant this year! I’ve worked at Aston Lodge for 5 years this September and I’m looking forward to another amazing year ahead.
You might remember having me in foundation stage and seeing me around school, but I can’t wait to be in your class again and continue to support you with your learning journey. One of my favourite subjects in school is maths and I enjoy reading a good book too – especially silly ones!
I am sure we will have a brilliant year together. See you in September!
Class Information
PE days will be on Thursdays and Fridays and children will need to bring a PE kit on these days. They will take reading books to and from school on a daily basis and will be expected to read at least three times a week. They will also bring home weekly spellings and a weekly piece of homework (alternating between English and Maths). Homework will go home on a Friday and will be returned on Thursdays.
Maths learning is supported by the White Rose scheme of learning, where children are taught in small steps throughout each stage. Children are encouraged to access Times Tables Rockstars, Numbots and IXL at home. Log in details will be available in the front of their reading records.
Homework will be given out on a Friday, and it is to be returned by the following Thursday.
Our Learning
We will be learning some interesting topics across the curriculum this year. In the Autumn term we will be learning about the human body in Science, Food in Rotherham in Geography and The Stone Age in History. We will also be completing daily English and Maths work to develop our skills in these areas.
