Welcome
to Year 5
															Miss Burton
Meet your teacher
My name is Miss Burton and I am so excited to be your new class teacher in September. I have various roles in school, including Deputy Head and SENDCO. I have been teaching for many years but still love everything about my role. I am passionate about teaching and making sure that all the children reach their full potential and be the best that they possibly can be. I also love French and sharing my knowledge of the different countries that I have visited. I am really looking forward to working with you all in September.
Meet your Teaching Assistants
															Miss Ozyer-Key
Hello, my name is Mrs Ozyer-Key, but most people know me as Mrs O. I will be your
teaching assistant this year! Get ready to smile and enjoy the challenges ahead. See
you in September.
															Mrs Pepper
Hello my name is Mrs Pepper. I have worked in education for about 15
years. I started in Children’s Centre’s as an early years practitioner then
moved into schools as a teaching assistant about 4 years ago. I have
been a part of the Aston Lodge family for the last 3 years. I find it
very rewarding and can’t wait to support the children with their learning
to help ensure they all reach their full potential. One of my favourite
parts of the day is sharing a story before home time. I am an avid
reader and love taking the children on different, exciting adventures
through a good book.
															Mrs Cresswell
Hi. My name is Mrs Cresswell. I have been a teaching assistant for around 14 years and have worked at Aston Lodge since March 2024. I’ve had the pleasure of working with lots of you already during my time here and I am very much looking forward to working with and getting to know better those of you in the class whom I haven’t previously worked with.
Class Information
Year 5 is a very busy but yet exciting time. You have finally reached upper key stage 2 and we really focus on becoming much more independent learners as we prepare for year six.

In the afternoon, we are joined by our year 4 peers where we we will cover all the foundation subjects, such as history, geography, French and PSHE.
It is important that we keep on top of everything, such as homework and making sure that we complete weekly three reads.
Our Learning
We will be starting some brand new and exciting topics in Year 4 and 5, which includes history, geography and science. An eye dissection will be one of the exciting science experiments that you do next year. We are also looking forward to the more creative areas of the curriculum taking part in lessons such as art. Each term we will also go on a trip linked to our topic work.
