Aston Lodge had a visit from Laura at The Children’s Hospital Charity to talk to the children about the work the charity does to change the lives of children across the UK and beyond.
She explained how hundreds of sparkling snowflakes have lit up Sheffield Children’s Hospital, with a record-breaking total pledged to the fundraising for a new on-site helipad at the hospital.
The Children’s Hospital Charity’s much-loved display, established in 2004, brings people together with a shared goal to build a better future for the staff, patients and the families at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Schools within Wickersley Partnership Trust have pledged money towards their own snowflake – all proceeds from the snowflake fundraising will be put towards the new helipad.
Sheffield Children’s is the designated Major Trauma Centre for children in South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw providing a service for over 375,000 children and young people. They need to get patients who urgently need critical care to their Emergency Department as soon as possible. A helipad will provide patients with privacy and dignity as they arrive. A helipad on the roof would also mean patients can land and be transferred anytime with flood lighting.
