Last Wednesday, Aston Lodge held its annual Democracy Day, and what a fantastic day it was! More pupils than ever before put themselves forward for the important role of school councillor, showing just how passionate our students are about making a difference.
During the day, our confident candidates delivered speeches to their classmates, sharing their ideas about how they could improve school life and represent their peers.
After hearing all the speeches, pupils took part in a real vote, choosing the two representatives they felt would be the best voices for their class. This was a brilliant opportunity for the children to learn about democracy in action and experience what it feels like to take part in an election.
Mrs Pirie and Mr Kirk are really looking forward to working with the new councillors and hearing all of their brilliant ideas when meetings begin next week. Together, they will work on exciting projects, plan events, and make sure every pupil has a say in what happens at Aston Lodge.
