Our Y5 and Y6 female sports leaders at Aston Lodge Primary School delivered an excellent assembly to launch Rotherham Girls’ Week – a week dedicated to engaging and empowering girls to take part in sport and try new activities.
Working alongside Mrs Pirie, the girls planned a range of activities for pupils to enjoy, including netball skills and dance. At break time, they also shared wristbands with all the girls in school to help raise the profile of women in sport.
Later in the day, the whole school – including almost 100 girls – joined the female sports leaders outside to take part in a variety of activities. Pupils had the opportunity to try netball, gymnastics, cheerleading, football, dance, and basketball, all led by our confident playground leaders. It was a fantastic success!
The female sports leaders have continued their brilliant work throughout the week, also supporting Mr Inglis in delivering PE sessions across all year groups. Well done!
