Welcome
to Year 6 (Sycamore)
Miss Jenkinson
Meet your teacher
Hi! My name is Miss Jenkinson and I am your new class teacher in Y6. I have been teaching, as part of Wickersley Partnership Trust, for seven years now; and I have been a teacher at Aston Lodge Primary School for three of those. Aston Lodge Primary School is such an amazing place to work in and go to school. We always follow the Aston Lodge Way and aim high and everyone here just wants to see you do your very best.
You will have definitely seen me around already: at residential, speaking in assembly or as part of student voice. I lead RE, Science and Computing in school and I try to make each lesson as fun as possible.
When I am not in school, I like spending time with my friends and family. I love taking my godchildren to different places to learn and have fun. My favourite place to go is definitely the zoo – I love penguins!
This year, I am looking forward to being a part of your learning, school life and watching you grow. Year 6 is such a great year to be a part of, as you’re now young adults getting ready for the next stage of your education. Try not to be too nervous about starting, because there is really nothing to worry about – everyone gets those first day butterflies! If you work hard, I’m sure we will have lots of fun. See you soon and stay safe over the summer.

Meet your Teaching Assistant
Miss Woodger-Galeel
Hello Year 6! I’m Miss Woodger and I’ll be your teaching assistant this year. I will have worked at Aston Lodge Primary School for 4 years this September and am so excited to come on this journey with you!
You will have already seen me around school, or previously in Nursery with some of your younger brothers and sisters. This will be my second year in Year 6, and I can’t wait to see what adventures we will go on. Year 6 was my favourite year when I was in primary school, so I can’t wait to be helping you all learn during the school year to achieve the best that you can!
Outside of school, I enjoy exploring and visiting new places. One of my favourite places I have visited was Iceland and swimming in the Blue Lagoon – it was so cool! I also love spending time with my family, my favourite time of year is Ramadan and Eid as all the family comes and spends time together(including lots of yummy food)!
I look forward to meeting you all and watching you all grow.

Class Information
Using most recent assessments, children will be grouped according to their individual needs. These will be flexible Maths and English groupings that will change when their needs change. This is very much in keeping with what we have done in previous years and the children are already used to this structure within their day.
Your child will be involved in reading sessions as part of English lessons. Homework comprises learning weekly spellings, reading, practising recalling/learning X tables and a mix of Maths/English written homework.
We really cannot express enough the importance of your child reading regularly at home. It is a basic expectation that your child will read at least 3 times a week.
We will continue to encourage the children to follow The Aston Lodge Way and this is aligned with our school reward system of Class Dojo.
You will receive an invitation to your child’s Class Dojo in September, where you will be able to interact with your child’s teacher and see what they are doing in class. Class Dojo ‘quiet hours’ are from18:00pm and 07:30am. This means that teachers will not reply in these hours and will get back to you the following day. On weekends, Dojo messages will not be responded to.
