Last week, FS1 began a new literacy topic all about birthdays.
They started by looking at their class birthday board and talking about which month each child’s birthday falls in. The children then enjoyed making their own birthday cards, practising writing their names inside, and getting creative by designing their own colourful party hats.
To end the week, they baked a birthday cake together and decorated it with sprinkles. The children were very excited to taste their creation afterwards! During continuous provision, they also explored the theme further by making their own birthday cakes using a range of materials.
The children showed fantastic enthusiasm and creativity throughout the week, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they took part in all the birthday-themed activities.
