Chinese New Year Celebrations in FS2

This week, FS2 have been learning all about Chinese New Year and why it is such a special celebration in China. The children explored the Chinese Zodiac animals and loved discovering which animal year they were born in.

They also learned how families prepare for the celebration – cleaning their homes, decorating with red for good luck, wearing special clothes, and sharing traditional foods like dumplings and sweet rice cake. The children were especially excited to learn about red envelopes, fireworks, and the colourful lion and dragon dances.

Inspired by everything they had learned, the children designed and made their own vibrant dragons. They carefully cut, glued, and added patterns and details, showing fantastic creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm.

We are very proud of how curious and engaged the children have been while learning about a celebration that is enjoyed by families all around the world.
