This week, EYFS have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the story ‘Pumpkin Soup’. They had lots of fun investigating pumpkins, discovering their textures, exploring the seeds and finding out what was inside. Inspired by the story, the children then made their own pumpkin soup before becoming little scientists and creating a rather magical version using a sprinkle of magic powder, a splash of witches’ tears and some dragon’s snot!
The children were fascinated as their pumpkin mixtures began to fizz, bubble and overflow, with plenty of excitement as they made predictions, described what they could see and wondered what might happen next. These hands-on experiences helped them develop their vocabulary, sequence and retell events from the story, and support their early writing skills. What a fantastic week of imaginative learning and discovery!
