Following the fantastic Y5/6 visit to the ‘Get up to Speed with STEM’ workshop at Magna Science Adventure Centre last month, the children wrote letters to the councillors who had helped organise this event. They thanked them for the experience, shared with them what they got out of it and what were their favourite parts of the trip. The councillors were so impressed with the letters and they asked if they could come into school to talk to the children further.
Last week, the councillors visited our school to attend a special assembly to show their gratitude to the children for their excellent letters and reviews. They awarded two children from Y5 and two from Y6 for their amazing writing skills and knowledge of STEM and careers. Maddie and Joshua were selected from Y5 and Jaylen and Tristen from Y6. The children were thrilled to receive a book token from the councillors for their wonderful writing.
The councillors will be continuing to work with our school on democracy and on ways to educate the children on how they can have an impact in their community and beyond.
A huge well done to all Y5 and Y6 for their enthusiasm and involvement in both the visit itself and the follow-up tasks and huge congratulations to Maddie, Joshua, Jaylen and Tristen!
