This week as part of our History unit on Conisbrough Castle, we visited the castle and spoke to a local Historian who told us all about her job and how she has found out about the castle’s past! Our local Historian explained to us about a career as a Historian and how she was so interested in history as a child that she explored a career in it. She explained what Historians do and how they make a difference to how we see local landmarks and find out about them.
We even practised becoming Historians ourselves by using different sources, that real Historians would use, to find out about Conisbrough Castle. We used video evidence as well as looking at images of what Conisbrough Castle used to look like. Then we were given the opportunity to dress up in clothes that would have been worn by people in the Norman Period, and learnt about the different roles in Conisbrough Castle.
After our morning with our local Historian telling us all about her career, we can’t wait to become Historians as we become older.
Well done Y2/3!
