Y6 Learn about Earthquakes

Today, in geography, Y6 were learning about why San Francisco had frequent earthquakes. They know this is because they are situated on a fault line, which is when there is a crack in the Earths crust.

To understand the movement of the tectonic plates during an earthquake, the children built a house from marshmallows and spaghetti. We then placed them on jelly, acting as the Earth’s crust and watched them shake.🌍🏡
